Ross Buckingham joins BMW Team for Bathurst
Surrey based Australian racing driver Ross Buckingham has finalized plans to contest in this years Bathurst 24 Hour race. Ross will join the Sterling Motorsport team and will drive a BMW Z3 M-Coupe along with V J Angelo, the car's owner, Rik Shaw and Mathew Marsh.
Victorian based Central Steel will sponsor Ross for the race. Central Steel is a well established wholsale steel supplier based on the Hume Highway in Somerton.
Ross, who made the graduation to the British GT Championship last year, has held a life long held fascination with Bathurst but the 24 Hour Race will be his first at the circuit. Ross said "This is destined to become one of the world’s classic races and I just had to jump at this opportunity. I am very pleased to be driving this car and I believe it has potential for a very good finish." Ross will draw on his considerable endurance racing experience gained at the Nurburgring in Germany where he has raced in 24 Hour and 6 hour races. In this years Nurburgring 24 Hour he finished 3rd in class in a Caterham 7 in a race which saw the car on a charge for 10 hours to defend the podium position.
